Kate's Baby Shower

Last weekend we celebrated with Kate as we showered her with gifts to help prepare her and Mark for Harper's arrival. We had a great time eating, opening gifts, and playing the classic game "guess how big the pregnant mom's tummy is". There were a lot of wrong guess even a couple that went all the way around both Kate and I, but the finally winner was Aunt Tee Tee who has 5 grand children so she is pretty familiar pregnant tummies! We had a great time celebrating with Kate.

We decided to wait until Caleb's turns one and have him baptized so more family could be apart of that with us. It was such a special day to have both sets of Grandparents, his GiGi, Great Aunt Tee, Aunt Kate and Uncle Mark, and his two neighborhood grannies Ms. Billy and Ms. Janet there to celebrate with us as we are trusting in faith that there will not be a day that Caleb doesn't know Jesus as his Lord and Savior b/c God is a God of promises. It was a sweet day!

Caleb turns One!

Caleb had a few birthday celebrations but his big party was held on Sunday May 24th b/c we were getting him baptized that same day at our church. We had our friends and family over and had such a great time with everyone. The kids played in the pool in the back with one another. And I tried my hand at making an Elmo cake for Caleb and after many hours it turned out pretty well. Caleb loved his cupcake but wasn't too sure how to eat it until we broke it up into little pieces for him. But once that happen he down the entire thing along with a big cup of milk! Yum!

Grandma "B" goes home

Sweet Grandma "B" (Grandpa Van's wife and Joey's mom) went home to be with Jesus on Sat May 9th. She was in a nursing home for a several years and every day Grandpa Van would faitfully be by her side taking care of her. Now we as we mourn her loss we are joyful knowing that she is the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ dancing and singing with the Heavenly Angels! We headed down on May 10th to be with Grandpa Van and family to celebrate her life and what an amazing life it was. I look forward to truly getting to know her in Heaven as so many friends and family shared so many wonderful stories about her. She will truly be missed.
While we were there they we were able to celebrate Caleb's first birthday with a chocolate brownie which he really didn't know what to do with since it wasn't "bite" size. He just kept on touching it until we broke off a piece for him to enjoy! It was so sweet to have that time with the Wilsons!

When we were down in New Orleans Emma took delight in helping Caleb eat and showering him with kisses. It's so fun to watch them play and crawl around together. They even share germs as they passed some rash to one another (which we think may have been Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease which is a common viral illnesses in infants and children. But the good thing once you get it you aren't suppose to get it again. Yeah!).

Andy and I had the pleasure of touring around San Fransico while Dennis and Rachel kept Caleb at home. We toured Alcatraz, The Golden Gate Bridge, Drove down Lambar Street, visited the seals at the Pier 39, and drove through some beautiful country side roads. It was an awesome day!

Bath time with Cousins

Of course bath time was much easier and more fun to clean everyone all at once. Caleb loves to splash and Emma hates to have water in her eyes (can you see where I'm going with this) so she wasn't sure she liked having Caleb in her bath tub. However, every time we scooted her away she scooted herself closer back to him so she obviously didn't mind it too much. After bath time we wrapped all three of them up in the towels that grandmother/Jeanette made for them. Emma and Henry enjoyed being wrapped up in their snuggly towels but Caleb was a wild man when we layed him down on the bed kicking and waving his arms up and down as fast as he could. I'm surprise he didn't take out Emma or Henry!

Visit out to California

We went to visit family out in California last week and had a great time. We stayed with Rachel, Dennis, Emma, and Henry and got to spend some time with Abi and Justin as well. Caleb and Emma had a ball playing together. They would just following each other around (crawling of course) not even caring that we were there (which was a nice treat not having someone hanging on your leg through out the day!). A couple of times Caleb tried to form tackle Emma which scared her a bit not being use to being around a very tough tumbling boy (I'm sure Henry will keep her on her toes as well though). Emma was a very sweet cousin to Caleb always making sure he had his paci in his mouth (if it was laying on the ground or even if it was Henry's for that matter) and she loved burbing him by patting his back like she does to her baby doll.

Winter Trip to Fort Myers Beach, FL

Caleb and I took a two week vacation (which was too long for daddy) down to see all the snow birds in FL. We had such a great time and Caleb wore himself out crawling up and down the beach. Those were some of his best naps ever down there. He did try to eat the sand every time he could. He loved the pool and kicked and splashed so much I would not be surprised if he became an Olympic swimmer when he grows up (Watch out Micheal!).

Almost every morning Andy and Caleb make a trip to Krispy Kream to get Andy a cup of coffee and this morning it was a little chilly so his Great Grandmother Dotty made this hat for him which came in quite handy! I'm sure as he gets older Andy will sneak Caleb a doughnut hole without mommy knowing!

I can't believe we're almost approaching a year! Time is just flying by and it's getting harder to take these shots b/c Caleb either won't sit still or wants me to hold him. He's definitely a momma's boy so I'm trying to treasure it now (that's what I try to remind myself anyway when I'm trying to make lunch/dinner and he's clinging on to my leg crying!) Wonder what he's going to do when he's cousin Harper arrives and she's with us during the afternoons! Only time will tell.

Playing in the Sand Box

A friend of a friend invited us over to play in her new sand box she bought for her little boy. However, the store was all out of white sand so she had to buy green instead! All was going well until Caleb climbed into the sand box and started taking the sand to his mouth! Maybe it's a tad bit so for a sand box for us!

This is Caleb's new set of wheels which he absolutely loves. Our driveway has a small slope but sure picks up speed once you get going. I'm foreseeing the need for bumper pads on the garage since we've already dented it with the jogging stroller. Murdock's not a big fan of this new toy and constantly tries to bite and bark at the rolling wheels. For a smart dog he sure is silly sometimes.

So I am going to give this blog thing a try again and just post only one or two pictures at a time (since I always had error messages when I post more than that). Caleb will be turning 11 months on the 15th this month and he is exactly 23lbs. The reason I know that is b/c we went to the Doctor today (while the tornado sirens started going off-lovely) and after he was weighed the Doc said he had a double ear infection. No wonder he's been so cranky these last two days. So we got the medicine and are going to get him all fixed up. We hope you all have a great Easter and remember what an amazing gift we have been given by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Blessings to you all!

We had some visitors from up north come down for a weekend in early August. Caleb got to spend some great time visiting with his Great Grandparents and loved every minute of it. His Great Grandma also left some homemade apple sauce (which is currently in the freezer) for him to try when he starts eating foods which won't be too much longer!!! We're so glad we got to see them. We love them and miss them already so much!!!

He is officially too long for the sink so we have made the transition to the big bath tub where he gets to kick and splash a lot more. We won't be back to the sink until he can sit up on his own but thank goodness he loves his bathtime!!!

Wilson's TN Vacation

Since we weren't sure how little man would travel the Wilsons decide to plan this summer's vacation in McMinnville, TN which was really close to home for us. We had a great time riding on the pontoon(sp?) boat but the little ones had to wear life jackets. Our little man slept right through it but his older cousin was not too happy about it at first but after a bottle and a little power nap she was happy again. The cousins had fun playing with each other and the older kids got to go to a show at the Grand Ole Opry while Grandma and Grandpa stayed home with the little ones. It was a great vacation with many new fun memories made!

Movie Night

Caleb joined me and my girlfriends for a movie night in the park. So his very first movie was Dirty Dancing! Yeah I know not the most fitting for a newborn but we covered his eyes during the bad parts but I wanted teach him that no one puts baby in the corner!!!!

Road Trip to New Orleans!

Over July 4Th we made the trek down to New Orleans to visit Grandma and Grandpa Wilson, Great Grandma Bee and Grandpa Van, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Dennis, cousin Emma, and cousins Emily and Hannah, and even Unlce Don and Aunt Linda! That was a long trip but Caleb did great and we made it in 9 hours! We had a wonderful time and was able able to help Grandma Susan celebrate her birthday! Caleb and Emma had lots of fun playing together and even got to share that special "first bath" together! They will love these pictures when they are older! When we went to watch the fireworks on the 4Th (which Caleb and Emma slept through) grandma Susan had mosquito nets to cover Caleb and Emma's strollers b/c if you've ever been down to New Orleans on a hot muggy night you know how bad the mosquito's are! :)

Road Trip to Memphis

At the end of June we went to Memphis to visit high school friend's for Debbie's Bridal Shower. We had lots of fun meeting new friends (his new little friend here is only one month older than him), laying out by the pool, and even dipping our little toes in the pool to cool off. Caleb loved it! Unfortunately we didn't take many pictures while we were there!!! Next time we definitely will though!

Road Trip to Illinois

So it's been awhile since we've blogged. I tried once and it didn't work so here we go again!

Since I last wrote Caleb has been the world class traveler. When he was 3 weeks Caleb, Grandma Leahy, and I traveled up North to Edwardsville, Ill to visit his great grandma and grandpa Boerio, great Aunt Tee Tee, and many cousins!!! On our way home we made a pit stop in Super Man's home town. Of course Caleb was begging us to take his picture as Super Man!

Bath time

When Caleb was 1 week old we gave him his first sponge bath at home. Grandma Susan was the there to document it all. Caleb did so well and didn't cry at all. We had a space heater blowing on him which kept his little body warm since the kitchen was a little drafty. In the hospital the nurse said he wailed during his bath so we weren't sure how he was going to react at home. I guess he liked bath time better with mommy and daddy!!!

Welcome Caleb

Caleb Joseph Wilson made his way int0 our world on May 15th at 1:49am! It was a long day but we were so excited to finally hold him in our arms. Andy was so excited that I had to remind him to get the camera to take pictures. Caleb was also the first baby to be born on Thursday morning at the hospital so he was named Thursday's baby for the week and was on the local evening news during a commerical break. He came out being a super star in the making!

I started having some mild contractions on May 13th (which I thought were just some Braxton Hicks contractions since I was running around a lot that day and not drinking enough water). But after they lasted through the evening and into the night only to grow stronger and closer together at 6:30 am we decided these were the real thing so we went to the hospital at 8am on the 14th.

We are a great labor and delivery nurse (Gail) who was so sweet and extremely gifted at her job. Her and Andy helped me through 1 hour and 15 minutes of pushing until I was so exhausted (after being up for 24 hours) that I asked that the Doctor if we he could use the vacum to help get Caleb out b/c he was just not making much progress and my pushes were becoming less effective the more tired I got.

We are so glad and blessed to have him here and healthy. It's my goal to keep this blog page updated weekly so hopefully Caleb will continue to let me do that. He takes little hour cat naps here and there but he's favorite way to sleep during the day is to be held (what a life!). So I've become an expert in typing with one hand. So hopefully we can keep you updated on his progress. Thanks for all your prayers, emails, phone calls, and visits!!!
